Executive Director Tejas Sekhar recently published a manuscript titled An Examination of SARS-CoV-2 Transmission Based on Classroom Distancing in Schools With Other Preventive Measures in Place—Missouri, January–March 2021 in Public Health Reports.
Tejas' research with the Department of Pediatrics and Division of Infectious Diseases at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis yielded data that substantiated the CDC's recommendation to update its national guidelines, recommending that "all students remain at least 3 feet apart in classrooms where mask use is universal — regardless of whether community transmission is low, moderate, substantial, or high." This research was previously conditionally accepted in November 2021 and accepted in its final form in April 2022.
